Japan will be the first country outside the U.S. to roll out Apple Wallet’s ID feature
In a move to allow for broader use and adoption of their digital ID’s, Japan’s parliament has allowed those biometric IDs to be integrated with Apple devices.
According to The Japan Times, the lawmakers passed a law that allows private information on “My Number” cards to be stored in smartphones, containing names, addresses, photographs, social security data and tax data.
‘The move is expected to boost cardholders’ convenience, as procedures such as opening online brokerage accounts and age verification when shopping can be completed using their smartphones,’ the paper explained.
