Judge rules that left-wing presidential candidate Cornel West can stay on Michigan ballot

 

A fear of vote splitting has led Democratic officials in some states to exclude academic and far-left presidential candidate Cornel West from this year’s ballot.

Yet in what could prove to be a major defeat for Vice President Kamala Harris, a judge has determined that Michigan residents will have a chance to support West. 

“Victory in Michigan”

According to Breitbart, Judge James Robert Redford ruled this past weekend in favor of West and his running mate, Dr. Melina Abdullah.

West trumpeted the news in a social media post on Saturday, writing, “Victory in Michigan! We brought thousands of voices to the table, and the court listened, rejecting the Democrats’ technical challenges.”

The former Harvard professor went on to boast that Redford’s decision was “a win for democracy and for every person fighting for truth, justice, and love.”

The pro-voting integrity group Fair Election Fund celebrated as well, writing in an X post of its own that “Michigan Secretary of State [Jocelyn Benson’s] voter suppression efforts were just overturned in a win for democracy and a loss for Democrats.”

“Notary issues” cited as reason to exclude West

Saturday’s court ruling came less than two weeks after the Washington Post reported that West would be kept off Michigan’s ballot due to “notary issues.”

What’s more, this campaign also faced allegations in a lawsuit filed by a local activist who maintained that it lacked a sufficient number of qualifying signatures…
