JUST IN: FBI Names Dan Bongino’s Replacement

After Dan Bongino’s departure as Deputy Director at the FBI, his replacement has just been chosen.

Christopher Raia, an FBI veteran who has been running the agency’s New York office, will serve as co-deputy director alongside Andrew Bailey.

Christopher Raia has been serving at the FBI since 2003.

He will begin at his new role in D.C. on Monday.

The FBI says that the current head of the FBI’s New York field office, Christopher Raia, is being appointed as the agency’s co-deputy director — taking over the position @dbongino
just left.

Sources say Raia is expected to start in his new position as early as Monday.

This means that an agent will once again be in a deputy director role atop the FBI. Earlier this year, the FBI Agents’ Association said that, after being nominated as FBI director, @FBIDirectorKash
assured the association’s leadership that an active FBI agent would take the reins of the deputy director — but Bongino then ended up as deputy director.

When former Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey became Bongino’s co-deputy director in September, there still wasn’t an active FBI agent in the deputy director position. Now there will be.
