The riots in Los Angeles continue to spiral out of control on Sunday night, marking the third consecutive day of rioting in the city. In a Truth Social post, President Donald Trump referred to the rioters as “insurrectionists” for the first time.
As of 7:30 local time, overhead aerial footage obtained by ABC 7 Los Angeles shows rioters pelting rocks, bikes, fireworks and other projectiles at police cars from an overpass not far from the federal complex. Officers, located on the northbound side of the U.S. Route 101 Freeway, could be seen ducking for ducking for cover under the overpass as vehicles sustained heavy damage.
Officers on the northbound side were eventually forced to retreat, while rioters were seen throwing projectiles at passing vehicles on the southbound side. “You see the size of those rocks, that could easily kill somebody,” an ABC 7 anchor remarked.
