Trending Politics Conservative News and Commentary The Pentagon is sending more U.S. troops to the Middle East, including elements of the 82nd Airborne Division and a key combat brigade, a War Department official confirmed Wednesday.
The latest move adds muscle to the region just a day after the division’s command element was already dispatched.
“We can confirm elements of the 82nd Airborne Division HQs, some division enablers and the 1st BCT will be deploying to the CENTCOM [Area of Responsibility]. Due to operations security we have nothing additional to provide at this time,” the official said.
The deployment includes the 1st Brigade Combat Team, a frontline fighting force within the 82nd Airborne that is designed for rapid response missions.
Officials have not disclosed the exact size of the force or its specific mission, citing operational security, but initial reports estimate the unit at around 1,500-strong.
The buildup follows Tuesday’s deployment of the division’s command element to the same region, signaling a broader mobilization underway as tensions continue to simmer across the Middle East.
