Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito is raising concerns about the wide-ranging restrictions to stop the spread of the coronavirus, saying they shouldnât become a ârecurring feature after the pandemic has passed.â
Alito, nominated to the high court by President George W. Bush, made the comment during the conservative Federalist Societyâs annual convention, held virtually this year because of the virus pandemic.
âThe pandemic has resulted in previously unimaginable restrictions on individual liberty,â Alito also said, according to the Associated Press.
Alito made clear that his expressed views were not intent on âdiminishing the severity of the virusâ threat to public healthâ or question âwhether any of these restrictions represent good public policy.â
However, he argued that it is an âindisputable statement of factâ that âwe have never before seen restrictions as severe, extensive and prolonged as those experienced for most of 2020.â
âWhatever one may think about the COVID restrictions, we surely donât want them to become a recurring feature after the pandemic has passed,â Alito continued.
He was particularly critical of two cases earlier this year in which the high court sided with states, that imposed restrictions on the size of religious gatherings, citing the pandemic.
In both cases â in California and Nevada â the court divided 5-4 in allowing those restrictions to continue with Chief Justice John Roberts siding with the courtâs liberals.
This whole thing reminds me of the emperor’s new clothes. Who dares say the dude was naked. But in our world, after all these mouth, the media is stall sensoring anybody who questions the fact that we are being locked down for the flu. Old people are dying of loneliness. Coroners’ aren’t cutting people up to see what people are dying of, Because “they might get the virus. Big Brother now has a vaccine to do the job your mind couldn’t do. God help us all.. And the Dem’s are celebrating. What goes around comes around. That should put a smile on a few faces
