The Justice Department asked a federal judge Wednesday to temporarily block a subpoena for eight years of President Trump’s tax returns, saying the dispute raised serious issues that needed further consideration by a federal court.
“The President’s complaint raises a number of significant constitutional issues that potentially implicate important interests of the United States,” said the filing, signed by lawyers from the Justice Department.
