Paul Daniel “Ace” Frehley, the original lead guitarist of KISS, died at 74 after suffering wounds from a fall in September, according to his family.
Frehley’s family released a statement obtained by Variety that conveyed their sense of loss.
“In his last moments, we were fortunate enough to have been able to surround him with loving, caring, peaceful words, thoughts, prayers and intentions as he left this earth,” they said.
Sources told TMZ that Frehley fell in his home studio several weeks ago and had been hospitalized since. The 73-year-old rocker’s upcoming tour dates were canceled, and he had been placed on ventilator with his family reportedly weighing whether to keep him on life support.
