LAPD increases patrols following Hamas’ calls for ‘global day of jihad’

The Los Angeles Police Department is increasing patrols following a call to action from a former Hamas official who encouraged Palestinian supporters to commit acts of violence against Jews and Americans on Friday in what he called a “global day of jihad.”

“The Los Angeles Police Department is aware of recent statements made calling for action as it relates to the conflict in the Middle East. We have no information of any specific or credible threats to the City of Los Angeles but we are continuing to assess the situation for any potential impact to our communities,” the department said in a statement.

“We are closely monitoring these events and are coordinating with Federal, State, and local partners on information sharing. Remember if you see something, say something. Knowing and caring for your neighbors is the first line of safety,” they added.
