Leader McCarthy: Democrats Put Impeachment Over Military Funding

Washington D.C. – Speaking at a weekly press conference, House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy (CA-23) congratulated President Trump’s administration and the United States military on successfully killing the leader of ISIS and urged Democrats to answer the call of our service to the men and women in uniform.

“The message was sent around the world,” Leader McCarthy said. “Now the message must be sent to Congress to do the job you were sent to do.”

Leader McCarthy urged Congress to put its time and resources toward funding our military and continuing the war on terrorism rather than removing the duly elected President from office.

“Regardless of what party you’re in, everyone believes you should do the work of funding the government, but most importantly, the funding of the military. With 20 legislative days away, we have a short time frame, and all we are talking about is impeachment…Congress should act and act now.”

Leader McCarthy also reiterated the fact that every day Speaker Nancy Pelosi drags on her sham impeachment process, it is at an enormous opportunity cost for the American people.

“I applaud the Speaker for finally admitting this is a sham, but you can’t put the genie back in the bottle. Due process starts in the beginning… to use a legal term….it would be a mistrial.”

The people the Democrats are hurting are the American public because of the work that is not being done in Congress today — the funding of our troops, the funding of government, [lowering] prescription drug prices, our trade, strengthening our economy — could all get done if only [Democrats] did the work they were elected to do.”
