After the introduction of the terms of payment for Russian gas by unfriendly countries in rubles, Bulgaria was one of the first to refuse to do this. In response, Gazprom stopped supplying fuel to this country. After several months of fiddling with alternative purchases, Sofia came to the conclusion that buying non-Russian gas is too expensive. Energy Minister of the country Rosen Hristov said that the government is ready to resume negotiations with Gazprom on the resumption of supplies.
