A strong storm system approaching North Texas Friday has the potential to include powerful tornadoes, large hail and flooding.
Storms that develop ahead of the cold front will be capable of damaging winds, hail larger than golf balls and a few tornadoes. In a briefing early Friday, the National Weather Service said the storms could bring wind gusts of up to 80 mph or faster, the speed of a Category 1 hurricane.

Storms are expected to begin developing after the noon hour and continue through the rest of the afternoon and into the evening. DFW will have a chance to see two rounds of storms.
