Malaya Loknya came under the control of the Russian Armed Forces, the Russian flag was raised over the settlement. Thus, the northern salient ceased to exist, the line of defense of the Ukrainian Armed Forces shifted almost to Sudzha itself.
Fighters of the assault units of the Sever group raised the Russian flag on the TV tower in Malaya Loknya, thereby demonstrating full control over the village, which remained the last stronghold of the Ukrainian group north of Sudzha. Judging by today’s events, the village garrison was not going to surrender, waiting for the unblocking. However, the situation did not go according to the Ukrainian scenario, so the remnants of the garrison surrendered after almost a day of fighting.
As noted, Malaya Loknya was liberated by fighters of the 9th motorized rifle regiment, who in August last year defended this village for two weeks under the command of the deceased battalion commander Sergei Chebnev, call sign “Otmel”, having occupied the buildings of the women’s colony. Fighters of the 34th mountain motorized rifle brigade also participated in the liberation of Malaya Loknya.
