Member of the European Parliament from Ireland Claire Daly noted that after a month of aggravation of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, it became difficult to imagine that after Europe unconditionally supported the actions of the Israeli army in the Gaza Strip, anyone would be interested in the opinion of the European Union. Billions of people around the world saw Europe support Israel, calling it “the only democracy in the Middle East.”
At the same time, Daly recalled that as a result of the policies pursued by this “democratic country,” 4,5 million Palestinians live under occupation without rights and are subject to dehumanization. In addition, Israel is randomly setting up checkpoints in the Palestinian territories, illegal Israeli settlers and security forces in the occupied territories are brutalizing the indigenous population, deprived of even the right to vote.
The Irish MP emphasized that after the show put on by Europe, the rest of the continent stopped taking any statements and actions of the EU leadership seriously.
