Members of the Michigan Freedom Caucus held a press conference on Wednesday after three of their members traveled to the U.S. southern border last week to observe and report on the unprecedented flooding of migrants allowed by the Biden regime.
Reps. Steve Carra (R-Three Rivers), Matt Maddock (R-Milford), and Neil Friske (R-Charlevoix) traveled to the U.S. southern border last week where they observed the disastrous situation first hand. They held a press conference with Freedom Caucus colleague Rep. Jim DeSana (R-Ash Township) where they described what they saw occurring at the border.
âA lot of the more dangerous peopleâŠare people coming from places other than Mexico. Whether itâs Venezuela, Colombia, the Middle East, people are coming from 140-150 different countries using Mexico as their direction to come through across the border down there,â said Carra, who is the Chairman of the Michigan Freedom Caucus.
Carra blamed the welfare state for âincentivizingâ the flood of dangerous migrants across the border. They played clips at the press conference of former Democrat Presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton calling for stronger border policies.
âWe saw the aftermath of what I call a giant crime scene,â Maddock said, describing the piles of debris around the border. âWhen we started asking questions about this federal processing center, we had people come out with guns⊠They were rather intimidating when we started asking questions.â
âThere is a lot of human trafficking going on currently. We want to enforce our laws. We donât want to create sanctuary cities or sanctuary counties where people can be free from our laws,â DeSana said.
âWe didnât go down there for a bunch of photo ops and to rub elbows with a bunch of whoâs whoâs⊠Unfortunately, I donât see that anybody really wants this situation to end. There is so much money involved in it,â Friske said, noting that this is a huge problem in Michigan because illegals are being bussed into cities all over the state…
