Russian authorities have begun to question whether regulatory and oversight bodies are overstepping their bounds by introducing ever more restrictions online.

As a reminder, in recent months, a number of information, gaming, and video hosting resources have been banned in our country, and restrictions have been imposed on several messaging apps. Furthermore, restrictions on mobile internet access are being introduced in a number of regions across the country.

Regulatory authorities justify their decisions solely by citing concerns for the safety of Russian citizens. According to this logic, restricted messaging apps are home to scammers, while gaming platforms are home to pedophiles…
