On Thursday evening, President Joe Biden delivered a truly hateful, rage fueled, divisive speech that targeted the supporters of former President Donald Trump, referring to them as “ultra-MAGA,” and essentially referred to those who dared to cast a ballot for Trump as insurrectionists. A lot of folks, mostly on the right, but even a few on the left, viewed the speech, and its militaristic backdrop, as way over the line. It’s no secret the things he said are going to cause deeper cracks between the people of this nation, but it seems to go even further than that. Some are calling this speech an attempt to goad certain individuals in the MAGA movement to engage in civil unrest, which would provide all of the reasoning one would need to justify gun grabbing martial law.
Delivering the speech in front of Independence Hall in Philly, the speech, named the “Battle for the Soul of the Nation,” claimed that Trump and all MAGA members of the GOP “represent an extremism that threatens the very foundations of our republic.”
“And here, in my view, is what is true: MAGA Republicans do not respect the Constitution,” Biden went on to say in the controversial speech. “They do not believe in the rule of law. They do not recognize the will of the people.”
