Nagar Gri mud volcano erupts in Myanmar’s Ramree Island

A small eruption occurred at Nagar Gri mud volcano on Myanmar’s Ramree Island at approximately on October 5, 2024, sending mud approximately 3 m (10 feet) into the air.

A small eruption occurred at Nagar Gri mud volcano on Myanmar’s Ramree Island at approximately 11:00 local time (LT) on October 5, 2024.

The eruption lasted around 30 minutes and sent mud approximately 3 m (10 feet) into the air, covering an area around 100 m (328 feet) in diameter. No damage or casualties related to the eruption were reported.

Nagar Gri is the northernmost volcano in a cluster of four near Saichong Kyaywa village in Kyaukpyu Township, known as the Wetin Nagar mud volcano group.

Nagar Gri generally has large and fiery eruptions, with its most recent eruption occurring on November 5, 2023. The volcano reportedly erupted six times between 2016 and 2024. Major eruptions also occurred in 2011, 2008, 2006, 2000, 1996, and 1990…
