A growing number of countries both East and West are starting to kick English out of their lands, a sign of the times move that is getting little attention.
Two week ago, for example, The Netherlands is now seeking to curb English-language courses at their universities, and instead almost entirely teaching their courses in Dutch, with some minor exemptions here or there, The Guardian reported.
International students attending these schools may also be required to learn basic Dutch.
My starting point is that the language of education is Dutch. There can be room in the curriculum for another language, but my proposal is that it should not be more than a third. That means that most of your education is in Dutch, but if you want to give a few specialist subjects in English, that is allowed.
Exceptions are possible, but will need special permission … [For example] if you want to attract the best violinists in the world, it might help to offer this education in English.
The current law says ‘Dutch by default’, there’s a huge hole in the net and everyone swims through it. So we have to formulate the exceptions precisely. It might look like you allow more exceptions, but I think it’s the other way around.

Gee. go figure. We here in the USA are trying to phase out English. About time we here in the USA start strongly suggesting and requiring new immigrants to use English and our customs and culture. This culture of “disrespect” is going to ruin our country and we’re not far from the edge at the present. Sadly, fear when we do reach the edge, a return to some semblance of reason may be impossible. This next election cycle will make or break the USA. And The World IS Watching!!
