A North Carolina teacher has reportedly resigned after coming under fire for giving her English students a racially insensitive lesson and making racist comments in the past.
The teacher who resigned reportedly told her black students that if it were not for the Constitution, they would be her “field slaves.” The Winterville Character Academy Principal Annastasia Ryan supported the resignation, the Virginian-Pilot reported .
“She had them raise their hand during a constitutional lesson and reminded them that if it wasn’t for the Constitution, they would be her slaves,” parent Kanisha Tillman told WITN-TV .
