NEW: Pam Bondi Speaks For First Time After Stunning Firing

By Cullen McCue

Former U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi issued her first public statement after she was unexpectedly fired by President Donald Trump on Thursday.

“Over the next month I will be working tirelessly to transition the office of Attorney General to the amazing Todd Blanche before moving to an important private sector role I am thrilled about, and where I will continue fighting for President Trump and this Administration,” Bondi wrote in an official statement.

“Leading President Trump’s historic and highly successful efforts to make America safer and more secure has been the honor of a lifetime, and easily the most consequential first year of the Department of Justice in American history,” she continued before listing a number of accomplishments. Bondi pointed to a plummeting murder rate, first-ever terrorism convictions against Antifa militants, anti-gang/cartel enforcement and 24 victories before the U.S. Supreme Court as points of pride under her tenure.

“I remain eternally grateful for the trust that President Trump placed in me to Make America Safe Again,” the statement continued.

The statement comes just hours after President Trump confirmed her removal in a social media post of his own.
