According to a new poll, over a third of Americans who aren’t aligned with President Donald Trump believe the United States is now a “dictatorship.”
Many of President Trump’s critics have accused him of acting like a dictator, including Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA), who tore into President Donald Trump in a scathing response to Trump’s threat to have him arrested earlier this month.
In an interview on the Meidas Touch podcast, Newsom said, of the threat, “Was that said by Erdogan?! Who was that said by?!? Was that some dictator, some authoritarian in the history books? Or was that said by the President of the United States?”
There was also widespread criticism of last week’s military parade to ostensibly celebrate the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Army — which also coincided with Trump’s 79th birthday. Some observers compared the spectacle to the sort normally seen in dictatorships…
