The paradise island of Maui, Hawaii’s second-largest island, is reeling from a devastating wildfire tragedy that has left a staggering death toll that has now risen to 106. CBS New York’s Jordan Segundo and film team captured the pain and resilience of residents in the once-historic town of Lahaina.
Just a week ago, wildfires tore through the town, turning homes and memories into ash. “Everything is gone,” lamented one local, capturing the collective sentiment. Fires have also plagued the other side of Maui in the town of Kula.
