Noted Constitutional Scholar Sunny Hostin of ‘The View’: 2nd Amendment ‘Designed to Protect Slavery’

by Mike Miller

In a recent article, I wrote about Salt Lake City declaring “racism” a “public health crisis,” I observed: It’s almost like left-wingers sit around all day trying to outdo one another by coming up with something else to call “racist” — the fault, of course, of “white supremacy.” Welp, “View” co-host Sunny Hostin has answered the bell in stunning fashion. As Hostin sees it, the Second Amendment was ratified to “protect slavery.”

On Friday’s episode of “The View,” Hostin claimed a rise in black gun ownership wasn’t a result of being concerned about spikes in violent crime, but because “white supremacy” and police make Blacks feel “unsafe.” (I think Hostin missed her calling; she’d be a hilarious stand-up comic, don’t you think?)

As reported by NewsBusters, the geniuses of “The View” used their program to pimp ABC’s upcoming special on “gun violence,” which will air on Sunday. After co-MENSA member Ana Navarro blamed… wait for it… the NRA and the gun industry for the out-of-control violence, Hostin declared the Second Amendment itself, “racist.” Again, “designed to protect slavery.”

Picture the bloody streets of Chicago’s Southside, where the slaughter between Black gangs kicks into high gear, every weekend. Got it? OK, so Hostin believes rising gun ownership among Blacks has not happened because of “a rise in crime in the streets,” but because Black people are actually fearful of “racists and the police” — not criminals. These people just make crap up as they go.

Here’s part of the conversation, as transcribed by NewsBusters:

Hostin:

“The Second Amendment really was the right to bear arms, was designed to protect slavery, right, because they wanted our founding fathers and others, they wanted to be able to empower a local militia group to basically put down slave revolts and protect plantation owners.

“And so because of the origins of the Second Amendment and because of the NRA, I think we’re seeing this proliferation of guns and gun ownership but I will say that gun ownership is on the rise, of course, in this country, but the biggest gun ownership on the rise is among African-Americans.

“It’s up 58.2% and in large part when they are questioned, they’re talking about white supremacy, they’re talking about the pandemic, and they’re talking about police violence. They want to be able to protect themselves. So this is not about a rise in crime in the streets. This is about people feeling unsafe. Black Americans.”

Where to begin a debate against that? You (I) don’t — you (I) ignore the idiocy. The old idiom: Never wrestle with a pig in the mud. You both get dirty and the pig loves it.

Nonetheless, here’s how Meghan McCain responded:

“Well, what makes me feel unsafe is rising crime, so again I think it’s pretty natural to want to feel safe when cities and, again, you can talk about, you know, different —it’s true. The statistics, excuse me, what was said about places like Mesa, Arizona obviously my home state are true but you don’t see people fleeing Arizona.

“In fact, Arizona is gaining a new congressional seat because so many from California want to come over to Arizona because of the different kind of laws. You aren’t seeing people flooding to places like New York City, you’re seeing them flood to places like Florida and Texas and that’s because of the crime spikes and other things that happen post-pandemic.”

Co-host Sara Haines pointed out that the media is all over every “mass shooting,” but pays scant attention to the rise in violent Black-on-Black crime across America.

“But this is also always disproportionately affecting people of color. This statistic literally jumped off the page even before last year, gun violence was the leading cause of death for young black men claiming as many lives as the next nine causes combined.

“That’s a scary thing because on this air we always — the media often covers […] mass shootings. That’s only 0.2% of the deaths in guns, which is a little shocking to me because we tend to hone in on the wrong part of this.”

Not only will people like Sunny Hostin, Joy Reid, Don Lemon, and others, never stop making crap up to support their various narratives; they will never understand that they do far more harm than good by constantly playing the race card; the victim card — about everything that ails Black America.

The Democrat Party as a whole does the same thing. If nothing is ever “your” fault — if you are always a “victim,” you are absolved of any and all wrongdoing or responsibility because of “systemic racism.” Everything wrong in your life is caused by “racist white people.”

Meanwhile, it’s Friday night. The carnage on Chicago’s bloody Southside, in New York City, Baltimore, and across America is about to kick it up a notch. Again. With no end in sight.
