While I donāt believe for one second it is the responsibility of any of manās government to educate children, thatās the parentsā responsibility (Deuteronomy 6:1-9), at least Oklahoma State Superintendent Ryan Walters says that at the heart of who we are in Western culture is the Bible and Godās moral law, the Ten Commandments and that they would be taught in public schools in every classroom in the state.

The only issue I would have in them doing so is who writes the curriculum and what sort of theology they hold because there are many who twist Scripture, as well as provide a modern Gospel, which is no Gospel at all.Ā However, if Oklahoma were to follow a similar line of teaching the Bible such asĀ Dallas high schools did years ago in the 1950s since they merely presented what the text historically said, I think it would be a great improvement.

OKLAHOMA CITY ā Oklahoma school superintendents received a memorandum from State Superintendent Ryan Walters instructing them to add lessons on the Bible to the foundational texts in the stateās school curriculum.
The memo said Oklahoma schools must incorporate the Christian holy text, including the Ten Commandments, as instructional support in teaching curriculum.
Walters said the directive would be in alignment with the educational standards approved in 2019, and ordered all districts to comply, Scripps News Tulsa reported.
The note to officials said, āThe Bible is an indispensable historical and cultural touchstone.ā
Walters said, āWithout basic knowledge of it, Oklahoma students are unable to properly contextualize the foundation of our nation which is why Oklahoma educational standards provide for its instruction.ā
He said, āThis is not merely an educational directive but a crucial step in ensuring our students grasp the core values and historical context of our country.ā
