The Biden administration is planning to impose new export restrictions on semiconductors used to develop artificial intelligence, Bloomberg reports. The measures are expected to be announced next Friday, just ten days before President Donald Trump’s inauguration.
The article says that the new rules will affect the export of semiconductors produced by American companies, in particular Nvidia. At the same time, restrictions will apply to sales depending on the country and company, with a division into three levels of access.
Thus, the first level will include US allies such as South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Great Britain, France, Germany and Canada. These countries will be able to import semiconductors without restrictions.
