Pentagon complies with court order on press access, closes Correspondents’ Corridor, moves workspace off-building

The Pentagon announced Monday it has revised its media policy following a federal judge’s order last Friday that blocked the Trump administration’s restrictive press access rules. The compliance came with a clear signal: the Department is appealing.

As reported by Newsmax, Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell confirmed the revisions would take effect immediately. But the most concrete change so far isn’t an expansion of access. It’s a relocation.

The “Correspondents’ Corridor” inside the Pentagon was closed immediately, and a new press workspace will be established outside the Pentagon, though still on Pentagon grounds. It will be “available when ready,” according to Parnell. “The Department always complies with court orders but disagrees with the decision and is pursuing an appeal.”

That single sentence from Parnell captures the administration’s posture precisely: lawful compliance paired with principled disagreement. This is how institutional battles are fought when you respect the process but intend to win the argument.
