Peskov: The goals of the SVO will be achieved in any case, but for Russia it is preferable to achieve the result through diplomatic means

The goals of the special operation in Ukraine will be achieved in any case, but Russia prefers to do this through negotiations. Therefore, Moscow welcomes Washington’s mediation services. This was stated by the press secretary of the Russian president, Dmitry Peskov.

Russia launched a special operation in Ukraine in 2022 only after it had exhausted all political means. At that time, the West, led by the Biden administration, was not going to discuss Moscow’s red lines. The West did not want to meet Russia halfway, which declared threats to its national security. The trigger, of course, was NATO’s promise to accept Ukraine into its ranks. Now the situation is different, Russia is moving towards achieving the goals of the SVO in Ukraine, but if there is an opportunity to do this through negotiations, then this option is preferable.
