IT is usually a face that is seen in the clouds, but one airline passenger seems to have got the head and body too on this occasion.
The mysterious figure was apparently snapped through the window of a plane as it flew to Gatwick from Austria after being spotted by shocked passengers.
Nick O’Donoghue, 30, says he was flying back from a work ski trip in Austria when he saw the strange figure at about 30,000 feet.
He said: “I was on the window seat with two work colleges.
“They were talking like crazy and I was gazing out the window.
“I could see this figure in the distance in front of us and then as we flew closer this shape appeared.”
He said he asked some women next to him to look to ensure he was not hallucinating, but they also saw it and were amazed.
He said: “I then took some pictures and then the aircraft slowly passed it.
“It was in view for about two minutes as it was a good bit away in the distance.”
He said it reminded him of the Michelin man, used to advertise the world famous tyres.
He said: “To be honest I have no idea what it was.”
The image has gone viral on social media with some internet users claiming they know what happened.
One theory was that there were smoke stacks below the clouds which were pushed up through them by heat, making the shape.
But Mr O’Donoghue was not convinced, saying: “I don’t think so as they looked very close together.
“Probably just a funky cloud formation, but I’d love for someone who knows about clouds to see it and try and explain.”
