Police Investigate Fatal Stabbing of 4-Year-Old Fort Worth Girl

Fort Worth police are investigating the death of a 4-year-old girl who was reported missing and who died of apparent homicidal violence, authorities say.

Officers were called to the 2100 block of Hurley Avenue in the Near Southside neighborhood at about 11:40 a.m. Monday for a report of a missing child.

The department said the first officer arrived within three minutes and quickly determined there was a homicide.

A short time after officers arrived, firefighters were dispatched to a stabbing at the same location.

Ofc. Buddy Calzada, a police spokesman, confirmed a homicide investigation was underway and the Crimes Against Children Unit was notified.

“The reality of it is this is a very sad case, we have a child that has been murdered,” Calzada said.

He added it was believed to be an “isolated” occurrence but said there was no other information he could immediately release about the ongoing investigation.

Chopper footage from the scene showed investigators taking photos of a woman, standing next to a squad car. Her hands were restrained behind her back.

Police did not confirm if anyone was detained and said they were speaking to anyone who was on the property.

Additionally, no suspects have been named and no arrests have been announced.
