Asli Fine Foods has recalled its cinnamon due to its high lead levels.
A spokesperson for Asli Fine Foods stated, “We’ve already started doing a voluntary recall on that product (cinnamon).”
The spokesperson continued, “We just initiated it yesterday with the press release, and then today we’re initiating it with all the stores we’ve supplied, asking them to take it off the shelf.”
The FDA shared, “The recall was the result of a routine sampling program by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services which revealed that the finished products contained lead.”
The cinnamon was sold in Minnesota, Indiana, Illinois, Missouri, and Ohio.
Elevated traces of lead in foods have been linked to cancer and lower IQ.
