Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) may have let the proverbial cat out of the bag about House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-CA) Democratic select committee ostensibly designed to further investigate the assault on the U.S. Capitol which occurred on Jan. 6. Of course, he did not reveal anything that common sense wouldn’t have already told us – but it is instructive nonetheless.
In an appearance on ABC’s “This Week,” Kinzinger said the committee will be forcing “a lot of people” to testify and that “it’s going to be a thorough investigation for sure.”
The anti-Trump lawmaker discussed potentially issuing subpoenas for prominent Republicans who happen to be allies of former President Donald Trump. He said he “would support subpoenas to anyone that can shed light” on Trump’s actions that day. The lawmaker was intimating that the committee might want to compel anyone who spoke with the former president that day to testify. He said:
I want to know what the president was doing every moment that day. … I want to know if the National Guard took five or six hours to get to Capitol Hill. Did the president make calls? If he didn’t, why?
In regards to the former president, Kinzinger indicated that the committee might not need him to testify. He said:
We may not have to talk to Donald Trump. … If he has unique information that’s one thing. There’s a lot of people around him that know something.
The Democrats have been portraying these proceedings as some valiant effort to get to the “truth” surrounding the events that occurred on Jan. 6. They purport to be trying to get to the bottom of what motivated the riot and to figure out each detail of how the assault went down.
Kinzinger’s comments show that this is a gigantic load of bovine excrement.
The House select committee has nothing to do with gathering facts to better understand how and why the Jan. 6 riots occurred. It is not about figuring out how to prevent a similar incident from happening in the future.
As I predicted previously, these proceedings are nothing more than political theater designed to target Trump, his allies, and his supporters. The Democrats and their all-too-eager anti-Trump allies in the GOP only wish to use taxpayer dollars to smear the former president and the conservative base.
Note how Kinzinger said nothing about discovering the facts and following where they lead. He said nothing about looking into how the riot materialized. His comments were all about targeting Trump and those affiliated with him. He seems interested only in focusing on what Trump did or did not do and nothing else.
Needless to say, leftists will be cheering wildly as Pelosi and her merry band of Democrat lawmakers drag the nation through this farce. Unfortunately for them, it will end much in the same way as the second impeachment sham did. When the Democrats are finally done milking Jan. 6 for all it’s worth, they will wind up with a massive amount of nothing.
The riot at the Capitol can only serve to provide the left with political fodder for so long. To be frank, the nation’s attention is now focused on other things. Americans are concerned about the economy. They are worried about immigration. People want to know how to deal with the ongoing COVID-19 issue. Folks want their kids to return to school in person and they wish to be sure that hard leftist ideology is not being shoved down their throats when they do.
While most Americans agree that the assault on the Capitol was a reprehensible act, they also know that fixating on it doesn’t put food on their table or ensure that their children are receiving a proper education. This issue, as many others have, only further demonstrates how out of touch the Democrats are with the American public. When voters go to the ballot box in the 2022 midterm elections, they aren’t going to be thinking about the findings of the Jan. 6 hearings. They are going to be considering which party they trust the most to lead the country in the right direction.
Dog and Pony Show! And the Mad Dogs are snapping, snarling, and biting anyone who really knows what happened at the capitol that day! The truth will set us free! That’s a word the leftist Democrat’s do NOT want to happen!
