Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) is leading a Congressional effort to eliminate Internet Covert Operations Program (iCOP), the illegal clandestine Big Brother social media spying program put into place by the U.S. Postal Service (U.S.P.S).
âThe Postal Service should deliver the mail on time and on budget. They shouldnât have a covert surveillance program to monitor social media political behavior, protected by our cherished Constitution. As the dangers of government surveillance and targeting become ever the more clear, especially to conservatives, Congress must immediately abolish this program,â Gaetz said.
Gaetz is joined in support of the measure by House Freedom Caucus leader Andy Biggs of Arizona, Ken Buck of Colorado, Thomas Massie of Kentucky, Tim Burchett of Tennessee, Paul Gosar of Arizona, Louie Gohmert of Texas, Scott Perry of Pennsylvania, Greg Steube of Florida, and Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia.
No Democrats have signed onto the bill, showing that they are the party of Orwellian repression that is at war with the Bill of Rights and Constitution.
Last week, House Committee on Oversight and Reform Ranking Member James Comer (R-KY) and House Judiciary Committee Ranking Member Jim Jordan (R-OH) issued a letter with 30 other Republican legislators to demand a briefing on the iCOP program.
âIf the reporting is accurate, iCOP raises serious questions about the federal governmentâs ongoing surveillance of and encroachment upon Americansâ private lives and discourse,â the letter stated.
âIt is unclear why USPS, of all government agencies and the only one devoted to the delivery of Americansâ mail, is taking on the role of intelligence collection. The type of general review of social media alleged in the reporting does not indicate that the posts reviewed by iCOP are related to the protection and security of USPS, its postal routes, its employees, or the mail generally,â the letter continued.
The Republicans added: âAs Geoffrey Stone of the University of Chicago Law School said, âI donât understand why the government would go to the Postal Service for examining the internet for security issues.â We agree.â
Big League Politics reported on the iCOP program as the Biden regime removes any pretense that Americans have core fundamental rights:
âThe United States Postal Service (USPS) is running a social media spying campaign to track protests on behalf of Big Brother.
Yahoo News obtained a document exposing the Internet Covert Operations Program (iCOP) run out of the USPS. This program employs USPS agents to trawl through social media posts, flagging certain posts as problematic, and then sharing the information with other federal bureaucrats.
âAnalysts with the United States Postal Inspection Service (USPIS) Internet Covert Operations Program (iCOP) monitored significant activity regarding planned protests occurring internationally and domestically on March 20, 2021,â the March 16 government bulletin states, which has been called âlaw enforcement sensitiveâ and issued to the Department of Homeland Securityâs fusion centers.Â
âLocations and times have been identified for these protests, which are being distributed online across multiple social media platforms, to include right-wing leaning Parler and Telegram accounts,â the bulletin added.
USPS has targeted alternative social media platforms to spread propaganda about these entities that may help facilitate a future crackdown.Â
âParler users have commented about their intent to use the rallies to engage in violence. Image 3 on the right is a screenshot from Parler indicating two users discussing the event as an opportunity to engage in a âfightâ and to âdo serious damage,ââ the bulletin stated. âNo intelligence is available to suggest the legitimacy of these threats.ââ
No doubt liberals will be calling the iCOP program an example of democracy in action before long. Gaetz is demonstrating his worth by opposing this program.
