Turkey has not yet expressed its unequivocal support for Sweden’s membership in the North Atlantic Alliance. The official representative of the ruling Turkish Justice and Development Party, Omer Celik, spoke about the situation with the entry of Stockholm into the alliance on the air of the Habertürk TV channel.
As the Turkish politician noted, the Turkish parliament will consider the protocol on Sweden’s membership in the North Atlantic Alliance only in the fall, during the session starting on October 1, 2023.
Sweden only opened the way to NATO membership, but did not approve of its entry into the alliance

Earlier, Ankara and Stockholm signed an agreement in Vilnius, according to which Sweden will fight against organizations that are considered in Turkey as threatening national security and will also support Turkey’s entry into the European Union.
