(NationalSentinel) Left-wing activists and Muslim lawmakers Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) and Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) have remained silent following reports that Palestinian police have outlawed all LGBTQ activity in the West Bank.
According to a report in the Jerusalem Post, the Palestinian Authority and police have even threatened to arrest members of the LGBT group Al-Qaws for Sexual & Gender Diversity in Palestinian Society. The paper noted that Al-Qaws was planning an event for members in Nablus at the end of August; the group currently only has offices in East Jerusalem and Haifa, both cities in Israel.
Luay Zreikat, a Palestinian Police spokesman, said that LGBTQ activities are âharmful to the higher values and ideals of Palestinian society.â In addition, Zreikat added that Al-Qawsâ activities are completely âunrelated to religious and Palestinian traditions and customs, especially in the city of Nablus.â…
