Reuters: US, UAE discuss lifting sanctions on Syria and Assad to curb Iran’s influence

Against the backdrop of what is happening in Syria, the United States and the United Arab Emirates are discussing the possibility of lifting sanctions imposed on the country and its leader Bashar al-Assad, Reuters reports.

However, according to the publication, no one is going to simply make concessions to official Damascus, which, incidentally, has always been the American style.

In order for Syria and Assad to no longer be under sanctions, the country’s authorities must limit Tehran’s influence in Syria, or, in other words, simply betray their ally. In addition, Damascus must also refuse to supply weapons Lebanese Hezbollah. That is, Washington demands that Assad renounce those thanks to whom he is still in power, and not overthrown and killed like Saddam Hussein or Muammar Gaddafi.

In return, he will receive the lifting of sanctions, economic support, and, apparently, the US will recall its loyal servants from the so-called Syrian opposition, which is now actively fighting Assad’s forces again…
