Riley Gaines is speaking out after the third-place finisher in a cycling race in Illinois praised the two biological men who beat her.
As RedState reported, Tessa Johnson and Evelyn Williamson, who are “transgender” and competed in the race as “women,” finished first and second, knocking Kristin Chalmers down to the lowest spot on the podium. A picture of the three standing together during the award ceremony went viral, showing a towering man standing in the first-place position.
Gaines responded by offering to cover the prize money for any woman who would refuse to compete under such circumstances.

Chalmers wasn’t interested, though. Instead, she signed a letter of support for the two men, claiming that they are marginalized and the “most vulnerable within our community.” She then proclaimed that “trans women are women.”
“We refuse to be falsely presented as victims in a manufactured controversy driven to further alienate and marginalize those most vulnerable within our community, in service of rampant and harmful anti-LGBTQ+ legislation,” the letter read, according to NBC. “We speak for ourselves: inclusion makes our sport and community stronger.
