Russiagate Was Based on the Work of an “Russian Intelligence Asset”

Media pounces on an alleged Russian intel asset to attack Hunter Biden case while forgetting its own sins.

The media is very excited that Alexander Smirnov, an FBI informant, was arrested after being accused of making false allegations against Hunter Biden. It’s alleged that he has ties to Russian intelligence (and how many wealthy Russians who operate abroad in political circles don’t?) and that means it’s all over.

I reported on the Burisma allegations at the time, but some of the material seemed too easy and convenient, and when something says exactly what you want to hear, it’s a good idea to be suspicious of it.

That said, Smirnov was at best the cherry on the cake. Even if there’s no cherry, there’s still one big cake.
