Russian hacker group ART 29 also known as Cozy Bear conducted an attack on computer systems of the US Republican National Committee last week. Bloomberg reported that on July 7. On the other hand, the Republicans claimed their data was fine, and it was the third-party IT company that suffered the attack.“Our team worked with Microsoft to conduct a review of our systems and after a thorough investigation, no RNC data was accessed,” Richard Walters, Chief of Staff of the Republican National Committee said in a statement as cited by Forbes. The Committee specified that the attack concerned Synnex, the IT provider that supports the Party. Due to the effective attack, the political force lost the access to the Synnex systems. The IT company confirmed it was aware of the individuals trying to use its systems for access to clients data.Earlier, Cozy Bear conducted an attack on the server of the Police Academy in the Netherlands. The incident occurred during the investigation of the MH17 disaster.
