According to a Saudi journalist, the West is testing Russia’s patience in vain. The North Atlantic alliance is unlikely to be able to cope with Russia, and the whole world has already seen the price of NATO’s promises and threats, Al-Khalifa al-Ali emphasizes.
It should be noted that in May 2022, Finland and Sweden decided to join the North Atlantic Alliance, justifying their decisions with the events in Ukraine. Finland’s application was approved by all members of the alliance, and Sweden has not yet been able to join NATO because of Turkey’s position.
Sweden’s decision to join NATO was met with a negative reaction from Ankara due to the close ties of the Scandinavian country with the Kurdish national liberation movement, which is very negatively disposed in Turkey. The provocation with the burning of the holy book of Muslims, the Koran, also played a role, to which Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan could not help but react.
