Prank day for seniors has been a tradition for longer than I have been alive. And believe me, that is a very long time. The pranks are mostly just messy and the ones who made the mess usually end up cleaning it up. Itâs harmless fun and no one gets hurt.
Comfort High School, about 50 miles northwest of San Antonio, suspended 40 students for pulling pranks such as placing plastic spoons on the football field and rearranging things on the wall.
For their transgressions, they have been suspended for two weeks. It is an in-school suspension. Included in the prank pulling seniors who were suspended were the valedictorian, salutatorian, and others in the top 10% of the class.
The school has not told them whether or not they will graduate with the honors they earned throughout the four years in high school. Itâs even worse for liberal kids who could lose any honors they earned during their seven years in high school.
Journalist Morgan Burrell followed the story and shared her findings in a series of tweets:

Burrell wrote, âI just caught up with several studentsâ parents who tell me the plan was to stick forks in the practice field and then go home. While some students did just that, others went into the high school and left behind streamers, balloons and rearranged some things. Parents say the district is treating all the students with the same punishment: in-school suspension, senior privileges have been taken away & some students fear they may lose the honors they are supposed to graduate with.â
âAmong the students in trouble are the valedictorian, salutatorian, and others in the top 10% of the class. I made several calls & just stopped by district headquarters to try and talk to Comfort Superintendent Tanya Monroe. Her first question to me was, âAre you recording?â

In a separate post, Burrell wrote, âParents of students in trouble believe the punishment is unfair. âWEâRE SO FORKING PROUDâ reads this sign outside Comfort Liquors. The owner of the liquor store is Shannon Conroy. Her daughter is the valedictorian of the class of 2021âŠsheâs one of the students in ISS.â
