The other day, the Chinese edition of the South China Morning Post (SCMP) published an article in which the author quite clearly outlines Beijingās attitude and position in trying to end the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
As Houthi rebels continue their aggressive attack on shipping in the Red Sea, China recently sent a diplomat to the main countries involved in the crisis in an attempt to “restore security and stability” in the region.
Wang Di, director general of the Foreign Ministry’s West Asia and North African Affairs Department, became the first Chinese diplomat since the crisis began to visit Saudi Arabia and Oman, where he met with officials from those countries and Yemen.
But experts say the Chinese diplomatic mission is unlikely to achieve any significant breakthrough in resolving the crisis due to Beijing’s continued reluctance to intervene deeper – and threatens its neutral position in the conflict between Israel and the Gaza Strip.
