The U.S. Supreme Court sided with the firearm industry recently in a landmark decision that throws out the First Circuit’s ruling in Estados Unidos Mexicanos v. Smith & Wesson, Inc., et. al. The decision protects Smith & Wesson, along with six other gun companies named in the suit, from an incredibly frivolous money-grab supported by American gun control leaders.
This one has been brewing since 2021 in a suit that attempted to extort billions in damages. It alleged Smith & Wesson was liable for the brutal Mexican drug cartel violence gripping the country. But for 2A supporters, the lawsuit felt like a copycat tactic to the ludicrous Sandy Hook decision made by a weaker court. That decision, of course, set the stage for litigating Remington out of existence as we knew it.
