SEE IT: WWII Navy destroyer believed to be deepest wreck ever found

The remains of a U.S. Navy destroyer have been discovered resting nearly 23,000 feet below sea level near the Philippines.

The USS Samuel B. Roberts was discovered by American explorer Victor Vescovo and the British Company EYOS Expeditions. USS Roberts is the world’s deepest shipwreck ever discovered, replacing another World War II vessel, the USS Johnston.

“It was an extraordinary honor to locate this incredibly famous ship and, by doing so, have the chance to retell her story of heroism and duty to those who may not know of the ship and her crew’s sacrifice,” Vescovo said…
