Sen. Marsha Blackburn says she has ‘tax-free’ alternative to Biden infrastructure plan

By Daniel Payne

Tennessee Sen. Marsha Blackburn announced on Friday what she claimed would be a tax-free alternative to President Joe Biden’s mammoth infrastructure and corporate tax bill announced this week.

Biden’s bill would allot $2 trillion to infrastructure repair and other domestic initiatives and would be paid for in part by a hike in the U.S. corporate tax rate.

Blackburn in her Friday announcement said her plan would “improve our nation’s infrastructure without implementing the largest tax hike in nearly three decades or adding $2 trillion to our federal deficit.”

The Paving the Way for Rural Communities Act of 2021 would work to “level the playing field for rural America,” the announcement said, allegedly by addressing various federal laws that “add enormous cost and complexity to communities trying to work with federal agencies on highway construction or economic development projects.”

The bill, Blackburn argued, would “strengthen our nation’s infrastructure and remove regulations that prevent rural counties from fixing their roads.”

With good intentions

By https://hellopoetry.com/ms_reluctance/

Intentions, aren’t they always good?
You tried to do the best you could.
Though finally it came to naught,
you never gave up, never stopped
saying it’s for the greater good.

Intentions, aren’t they always good?
Seldom taking the path they should.
Noble, with a worthy cause wrought,
intentions rust.

Intentions, quite misunderstood –
even the best ones never could
right any of the wrongs they bought.
The well-meaning battles you fought
hardly could have done any good.
Intentions rust.
