Severe thunderstorms with widespread damaging winds – possibly meeting criteria for a derecho – are expected through early Thursday morning in parts of the Midwest.

This is not a setup for just a few hit-or-miss strong thunderstorms. It has some ingredients of a textbook summer severe setup.
