Shouldn’t local officials who enact ‘sanctuary’ policies be charged as accessories to crimes committed by illegal immigrants?

It’s pointless to try and shame or reason Democrats into complying with federal immigration laws

(TNS) This week, the acting chief of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) blasted Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot (D) for upholding and defending her “sanctuary” policy that protects illegal immigrants from deportation.

An exasperated and aggravated ICE chief Matt Albence was incredulous following the ‘alleged’ sexual assault of  a three-year-old girl by convicted felon and illegal immigrant Christopher Puente, who was allowed to remain in Chicago thanks to that city’s insane policy of refusing to hand over illegal immigrants who have committed, or are accused of committing, heinous crimes against American citizens.

As a law enforcement officer, we work every day to ensure the safety of those in the communities we serve,” he said, as reported by One America News. “There’s no worse feeling than when those innocent citizens you’ve sworn to protect are needlessly harmed.”

The mayor’s response? Typical of a member of the Garbage Party.

“They’re critical because we have said very clearly we are a welcoming city, we are a sanctuary city,” said Lightfoot, who also criticized the ICE director for ‘politicizing’ the crime. “Chicago Police Department will not cooperate with ICE on any immigration related business.”

Democrats are the kings and queens of politicizing events and tragedies. Just look at the way they and their allied propagandists in the “mainstream media” have pathetically over-hyped the coronavirus.

In any event, what allegedly happened to this child certainly isn’t the fault of Acting Director Albence or the men and women of ICE.

This tragedy can and should be laid squarely at the feet of Mayor Lightfoot.

Which begs the obvious question: Why aren’t Democratic officials who implement, maintain, and defend these psychotic sanctuary policies held legally liable when the illegal immigrants they are protecting commit crimes?

If you or I or anyone else harbors a criminal, we can be held legally liable for that. And in many respects, by harboring a criminal, couldn’t we also be considered accessories to future offenses committed by the criminal we harbor?

But for some reason, being elected to public office (and having a “D” behind your name) makes you immune from such charges. You are free to harbor all the criminals you want, help them plan their next criminal acts by shielding them from federal law enforcers, and become an accessory to the crime after the fact by refusing to turn that criminal alien over to ICE agents who are attempting to enforce federal law.

And yet, being elected to office does not make you immune from other criminal acts. Speaking of Illinois, just ask former federal inmate and Gov. Rod Blagojevich if elected leaders can be held criminally responsible. Or about half of Chicago’s mayors over the past century.

We’re way past the point of trying to ‘reason’ with these sadistic lunatic leaders in Democrat enclaves like Chicago, LA, Portland, New York City, etc. who continue to shield people who broke the law to get into our country, then violate additional laws with impunity thereafter.

We’re past the point of trying to expose them to ‘outrage.’ As Lightfoot proves, these people simply reject such criticism and continue supporting policies that are endangering and harming their own citizens because, unfortunately, those same citizens continue to put people in office who show little regard for their well-being.

So the time come to use the courts.

The Trump Justice Department has already begun to sue sanctuary cities over their refusal to follow federal immigration laws — which supersede all sanctuary policies and laws on the state and local level. But we have speculated that even if the DoJ wins these suits, and they should, what’s to stop arrogant Democrats like Lightfoot from simply ignoring federal courts and continuing the same sanctuary policies?

Here’s what would do it: Indictments followed by jail terms upon conviction. Moreover, Justice Department lawyers need to start getting creative in terms of developing and leveling additional charges against Democratic mayors and even governors who believe they are above the law when it comes to defying federal immigration authority.

For if the mayor of a city who implements a policy aimed at protecting criminal aliens isn’t an accessory to the crimes that illegal immigrant is committing, then such statutes are meaningless.

If harboring a criminal alien isn’t ‘harboring a criminal,’ then those statutes are meaningless.

It’s pointless to try and shame or reason Democrats into complying with federal immigration laws. That much is obvious. Time to charge these people with crimes for allowing other criminals to harm Americans.

I’ve always thought harboring an illegal alien was the same thing as harboring criminal. Yes they should be charged on both accounts. Harboring and accessory to crime.
