Half a dozen illegal aliens were apprehended after a man was run over and killed in Florida this week, authorities say.
The disturbing incident unfolded on Sunday in Mulberry, a city in Polk County.
A raucous party took place at the Willow Oak Mobile Home Park involving residents and visitors.
Witnesses say a 21-year-old man was seen laying on the ground for unknown reasons when another man climbed into a van and ran him over.
Bystanders shouted at the driver but he continued onward, parking the vehicle and entering a mobile home at the park.
Polk County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) detectives arrived at the scene and found the deceased victim, who had apparently been dragged inside his own trailer and left there.
They determined his injuries were consistent with having been struck by a vehicle and proceeded to the trailer where the suspect was hiding.
“When deputies went to lot #32 there were several people inside, all of whom refused to come out. Eventually, one by one, they came outside but refused to give deputies information or cooperate,” PCSO explained in a press release.
“Two of the men who came outside gave false IDs to the deputies. Once deputies had everyone in custody and interviewed, they learned all six of the suspects are in the country illegally from Guatemala.”
