‘So, you apologize for lying?’ House Republican accused on CNN of voting against a bill when he was not even in Congress

Sparks flew when Rep. Mike Lawler (R-NY) and former domestic policy adviser under the Biden administration Neera Tanden clashed over a ridiculous accusation.

It all started on the Monday night edition of CNN Newsnight with Abby Phillip when Tanden bizarrely claimed that Lawler voted against a reconciliation bill with a childcare tax credit in it. The only problem? Lawler wasn’t even in Congress that year.

The discussion revolved around President Donald Trump’s administration and its plans to encourage United States citizens to have more kids. Tanden immediately launched into a rant on how she supports all child tax credits before blaming Lawler for voting against a bill that was debated a year before he was even sworn into Congress.

“I support childcare. I support the childcare tax credit. I support the child tax credit. A lot of Republicans have voted against the child tax credit,” Tanden said, adding that she believes it’s a “little weird” for the government to be involved in female menstrual cycles…
