South Africa: Joburg hotel deploys robots for room service, queries in bid to curb Covid-19 spread

by news24

An upmarket Johannesburg hotel has deployed three robots to attend to guests’ needs in an attempt to limit the spread of Covid-19 – from room service, to answering queries.

The Hotel Sky, which had decided on the idea of the robots before the Covid-19 pandemic hit, has turned to making more use of the robots to avoid the risk of spreading the virus.

The robots attend to the guests’ needs and act as concierges.

A hotel employee explained that the team was still updating the robots’ database, and soon enough, they would be able to answer a range of questions.
